Day 4: Television Meme

My Favorite Show


So much has been written about my favorite show: Friends.


I'm not sure what's left to say. It's the go-to show for me whenever I'm feeling anything. Sad, happy, in need of a laugh, tired, angry, excited. 236 episodes of some great comedy. Well, some episodes do misfire a tad (The One with Russ), but when it's good (which is about 200+ of these episodes) it's really good (The One with the Red Sweater). I was too young to watch the series during its incredibly successful, 10-year run on the now-failing NBC. But I found the show in reruns, and now I own all ten seasons on DVD and regularly (very, very regularly) watch them.


Some random musings:
-Season 6 is the best. No wait, Season 9. No wait, Season 5. I can't choose!
-My mind changes on the order of my favorite characters all the time. I posted it on Andrew's blog a little while ago, but I don't remember that order. The order as of today: Phoebe, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey, Ross.
-I usually can't bring myself to watch the final episode because it makes me cry. There, I said it!








One day I might rank all of these episodes, is there demand for that though? Sound off in the comments if there is! Also, what are your thoughts on Friends?

Movie Posters

Certain movie posters are really great, and even if the film is bad, at least they have an awesome poster. Other movies receive utterly lazy posters. Time for a round-up of 2010's the good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Good:

Repo Men... simple, sweet, and blue

The Runaways... clever, eye-catching, and explosive

Letters to Juliet... those eyes, that look, those colors

The Bounty Hunter... the plot is bad, but the poster is charming

The Bad:

Green Zone... laziness in poster design will not help this dud make any money

When in Rome... both stars are pretty, but neither has that movie star factor

Extraordinary Measures... Brendan Fraser is amused, Harrison Ford is not. Neither are we

The Last Song... stop invading on our movie territory Miley!

The Ugly:

Date Night... great and super-funny stars, dullest poster

Clash of the Titans... snoozeee...

Hot Tub Time Machine... somebody must have come up with this plot and poster within a span of four hours

Legion... mind-numbingly uncreative

Favorite Actresses

We all have favorites. People who we just love to love despiteof their credentials or filmography. Case and point: the recent love-fest for Sandra Bullock because everybody just seems to really love that girl in spite of never having turned in a performance that wowed everybody (sorry, The Blind Side.)

I've decided to list my favorite actresses. This is not a list of whom I think are the best actresses (with perhaps some overlappage), but rather a list of which actresses excite me on and off the screen. I've limited the number of actresses to fifteen, and they are actresses currently making movies. EMMY's

Emmy predictions come out tomorrow! It's nice to have nominations announced in July to get through the rut following the Oscars. The only wrong the Emmys can do in my eyes is to ignore Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange in Grey Gardens. It would be nice to see Jennifer Aniston get a nomination for her work on 30 Rock, but not very likely. Guest actor/actress categories are typically dominated by older actors (i.e. Cloris Leachman for Malcolm in the Middle), but they could throw her a bone, don't you think? I'd like her to join Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry by getting an Emmy nomination after their (amazing) work on Friends, the best sitcom in the last 50 years. Any opinions?
